Turbo kit info????

I want to turbocharge my LS1 but I'm not sure where to start. I dont really have the money to do a build so nothing too crazy. I saw the STS turbo kit but it didnt seem like it was very good. Of course, I could be wrong. Has anyone on here used one?? I just dont like the idea of have the turbo on the bottom and in the rear of the car. And with that on a stock motor, would it really make a 100whp gains or something near that??? What would be the best place to get a decent but affordable turbo kit for an LS1??? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.:drivin:

If you are trying to build on the cheap, do a Super Charger instead. TT isn't ever going to get done on the cheap IMO.

$ per HP the SC is the way to go. Cool factor and scalability goes to TT every time.

I guess first you have to ask yourself how much do you want to spend? That alone will determine what road to take. Good call on the STS kits...they are junk!

I figured as much. That STS kit just looked retarded. What would be a good supercharger for the LS1 for a reasonably cheap price?

There is nothing reasonably cheap about FI.

Sorry, not being a smart-guy, it's just the truth. There are a pile of costs that elude you in planning and execution.

With that said, the ATI units deliver awesome performance and are very reliable.

Thanks. I'll look those up. And I know there's nothing cheap for FI. But I was hoping that someone possibly new a place that had good deals on the reliable and proven kits. Or maybe if someone had a shop connection or something. Idk. Oh well.

I've read all kinds of bad things about STS kits here on this forum.... but I'm VERY happy with mine. It's been on the car since 2005 and still running like a champ. It's my first turbo car, and I honestly can't imagine myself ever having another hotrod without a turbo. The rear mount is also very "out of the way" being back there. It has a very unique sound, and it's definately a conversation starter at the race track.

This car will soon be in the 11's and still stay gentle/timid/streetable enough that my wife can drive it across the country if she wants to and probably still get 24+ MPG.

I can get you a good deal on a Procharger and do the install as well.
