This is actually the second time I have had this happen. I dont drive my car hard very often...the last time this happened was back in October.
During a very spirited run, getting it up to 5800-6000 R's, I trip the P0430 SES code. Which is for passenger side cat efficiency below threshold (bank 2).
Does anyone have any insight as to why this happens only when I get the rpms up that high? I just tripped this code again, as i said it hasnt been since last Oct.

i get both 420 and 430 on my 01 Formula mine usually it is caused by bad or really low octane gas. if i put good or around here descent gas it doesn't come on. i had my cats replaced under warrenty a few months ago there is a recall on these if your car is under 80k they will replace them for free. (I had a service manager who is a friend who got mine in under the wire for me)

GM extended the cat warranty on the 00-02 LS1 F-cars to 10 years/120K back in Nov/Dec 2006.
hmm my service writer told me it was 80k but hey your way works better for all of us though. wonder if thats going to still be there under the new goverment motors (GM):Pow:
