Because when your drunk and in a wreck, your body is relaxed. Trying to brace yourself only makes matters worse :true: It sucks but its the way of life. That and being drunk is a relaxant which helps when Shock comes into play. Going into shock kills alot of people.
Why did they try to save the guy's life? Let him suffer.
