GTO clutch on the floor

Well I have done a few mods and now on highway pulls the clutch falls to the floor and I am stuck in neutral or that gear until I coast along for 10-15 sec then it starts to come back and works perfect for daily driving just can't Handel the highway pulls. I guess its getting overrun with the new power.
I hear allot of talk about LS7 and its cheep but will it stand up to a cammed car with dr's for the long haul ?? I want something that fairly easy to drive as my wife does use the car from time to time. I don't want to be swapping it out ever 10-20k toss out your user experience on different clutches 440rwhp car. No speculators or my friend has first hand info only please.

Ive heard the monster clutches are a good thing,personally id go A4,not trying to be a smart azz,JMO.the problem with our cars they are heavy and when you add more power then what our cars were designed for you add problems to drive train.

Im going with a Monster Stage 3 for my car. Im making 458/419. PERFECT clutch for my range from what i hear. On DRs and a couple of track passes teh LS7 wont like you.

I just put in the LS7 and its great can't tell the diference from stock just sticks better. THe LS7 has more surface area engagement.

My stock clutch stuck on the floor while running hard and burned the fly wheel causing it to slip bad under loads after that. Problem appears to have been caused by sludge in the Hydrolic clutch system.

But My car is stock I can't speak on your mods

Note: clean your clutch master cylinder if your car is an M6. Gonna do that when it gets warm. I can't remember the company that sells the remote bleeder kit.

Well, my friend has an 05 GTO with APS twins. He told me that when he first got it the pedal would be slow to return to the up position. He cleaned his master cyl out and he has had no more problems. Even with the APS, the car launches.

Well if you don't know how it works. It's hydraulic and it works off brake fluid. Brake fluid goes bad over time from absorbing moisture. Look at the reservoir!
It doesn't hold SHIT. So it's not hard for that minor amount to go bad over times of abuse. Drastic temp changes cause condensation which the fluid then absorbs.
Causing it to go bad.

Here is a TSB GM Issued in 05

This bulletin is being revised to add model years. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 01-07-31-002 (Section 07 - Transmission/Transaxle).

This bulletin is being issued to inform dealers of an improved procedure to aid in the ease of bleeding the clutch hydraulic system for the above listed vehicles. This procedure can be used anytime air is introduced into the hydraulic system. Following this procedure may also reduce the number of unnecessary parts replaced for low clutch pedal reserve and high shift effort.

1. Verify that all the lines and fittings are dry and secure.

2. Clean the dirt and grease from the reservoir cap in order to ensure that no foreign substances enter the system.

3. Remove the reservoir cap.

4. Fill the reservoir to the proper level with the required fluid.

5. Attach the J 43485 (Adapter) to the J 35555 (Mity Vac) or equivalent.

Important: Brake fluid will deteriorate the rubber on J 43485. Use a clean shop cloth to wipe away the fluid after each use.

6. Place and hold the adapter on the reservoir filler neck to ensure a tight fit. In some cases, the adapter will fit into the reservoir opening.

7. Apply a vacuum of 51-68 kPa (15-20 hg) and remove the adapter.

8. Refill the reservoir to the proper level.

9. Repeat Steps 6 and 7.

10. If needed, refill the reservoir and continue to pull a vacuum until no more bubbles can be seen in the reservoir or until the fluid level no longer drops.

Caution: The vehicle will move if started in gear before the Actuator Cylinder is refilled and operational Start the vehicle the first time in neutral to help prevent personal injury from vehicle movement and see it the transmission will shift easily into gear.

11. Pump clutch pedal until firm (to refill actuator cylinder).

12. Add additional fluid if needed.

13. Test drive vehicle to ensure proper operation.

ok I am going to clean/ flush the system and step up to the hi temp dot 4 fluid and see what happens . I will report back

Just finished up crazy amount of black sludge in the reservoir I used the mity on pressure and blew the entire system out 3 times with clean fluid then filled and vac it out. . AWESOME !! went out and banged gears like a madman. all is well.. Glad I did not need a clutch

Glad to hear that. Once it goes bad (brake fluid) it changes it's viscosity greatly which affects it's flow through machined orifices.

I also put plastic loom over the line all the way down because its proximity to the headers and then wrapped in it the reflective furnace tape should help keep the line/fluid cool.

I know a guy that put 458rwhp at the dyno last weekend and on the second pull it smoked the clutch. It was an LS7 clutch and aluminum Flywheel. I am pretty sure he is going with a SPEC Stage 3. As am i with just over 400rwhp and no cam yet. It will probably be soon to come. Both of us are N/A 05 GTO's

Cleaned out my clutch master today at work and mine is great now. I can shift without fighting the shifter. Clutch grabs better. My fluid was pitch black...YUCK!!!
