High milage CAM SWAP (bearings)??????

got 125,xxx on the motor with just about every bolt on possible. the car has 3.73 gears and a 1200 stall that previous owner instaled. My questions are---- it is possible to do cam bearings swap while the motor is in the car correct?? im def. not going to though in a new cam into some old bearings. i couldnt find anybody talking about changing LS1 bearings out. Why not? seames to me that it would be a must, especially if you are buying a 500$ cam. The motor runs extremely well and is in perfect running condition. Im planning on going with a cam that is big enough to where i will need a 3600 stall. Havent picked a cam or stall yet. Thanks

found out today that the bearings have to be pulled from the back of the motor. If so, im going to pull the trans. for the stall anyways i might as well swap the bearings. Is it hard? i can be a bearings install tool also. What yall thank??????????????

the back? i thought they came out the front. from what Ive read its a huge pain in the ass and its a job for a machine shop. If those oil holes aren't lined up with the ones in the block the you got big troubles. lol man

Can I make a suggestion here? If you are going to change the cam and the bearings, by the time you get it done if you change them in the car you could have pulled the motor, replaced all the bearings and seals, put new pistons and rings in it, new oil pump, and had a shop do the cam bearings as well as the rest of this stuff for minimal $$$$$$. Or if you can do it your self even more $$$$ saved. If you know the motor is good why not just freshen it up? Put a small bore or even just a hone on the cylinders. Take the heads off. You could have them polished up, change springs, retainers, and do a valve job on it. Depending on how much you do, you could spend as little as 1000 to 2500 and have one fresh motor to stuff back in the car in less than a couple of days or a week. If you just freshen up the bottom end you could have it done and running in a weekend if you don't do any machining and you will have fresh gaskets and seals in it.
