New non LS1 Dude
Just introducing myself, so this stupid notice will go away. LOL. I dont have an LS1 in any vehicle but I am interested in LS1 electronics and stuff like that to see if I can make it work on another motor (1UZ) Toyota V8. Also I have a couple of other questions I wanted to search about multi plate high HP clutches, and stuff like that.
Plenty of searches I still need to conduct.
I have a 1971 Datsun 240Z with an older Toyota Supra motor in it. It goes pretty good.

Thanks guys!!! I was wondering what is a good reasonable reliable WHP to build an LS or LT motor to. I know this sounds like a generic question but with the Supra motor 400-450 RWHP is a reasonable reliable goal provided you change little items like intercooler, turbo, exhaust, injectors, and make sure you have a good safe tune with a wideband and a piggy back fuel controller. All this for about 2k in used or cheap parts or 4-5K done right. Even the stock clutch will last if you don't to drag race launches.
What Im asking is how much is a reasonable HP to get out of an LS or LT car for around 4-5K. Is there one big weak link in the manual configuration?
Also does anyone turbo charge the V8 with any regularity? Any one kit or mod or main ingredient needed for a reliable mild turbo setup?
My Little Z makes 487 to the wheels pretty reliably, so Im curious about more.

Damn for 2g's you could get used cam and heads and make 450whp easy. For instance just a ms4 cam with headers makes around 400whp, cam can be had for around 300 bucks. Shoot some nitrous and 500 is not a problem. You could also look for people's half finished projects w/ forged motors.

The clutch, trans, exhaust, headers and fuel system are all up to the task of 450 RWHP reliably? No new fuel pump needed?
Obviously once I got over 400 wheel, I had to run much more serious tires. Treadwear higher than 100 just goes up in smoke even on a roll, so I can imagine, NA HP and TQ might destroy traction on the bottom end.

Peace, welcome!
The ls1 is not needed to be cool...
