Challenge What???6.1 WHAT!!

Yep you guessed it, I smashed ass on a 09 6.1 liter 6 speed Challenger! It was at the track and was in every way a fair race. Both of our 60s sucked ass at 2.00 and 2.03 but after that I left him in my mirror with me running a 12.7@ 114.5 and him a measly 13.04 at 104. The crowd was so hyped about this race and I knew noone in that crowd. The die hard Mopar fanatics were sreaming at the top of their lungs for the Challenger driver to " SHOW UP THAT PONTIAC" and I kinda thought " damn is this car that bad ass" , don't get me wrong, I think they look like sex on a waterbed with baby oil, they are very underpowered or overweight. ANyways thought I'd share the times and let all know that those cars are fun to whoop ass on!!!!
By the way I am cam only 346, so yes it was a fair race.

Since you say 6.1L, I assume that's an SRT-8 model. Was he stock? If he was, then I'd say he'd win most of the time in a stock for stock race.

I seriously doubt they're "underpowered" They are heavy but running a 13.04 stock is not that slow, I'll bet with just a set of DRs he would have pulled a high 12 with ease. What does a stock LS-1 f-body run? mid to low 13s? If so does that make them heavy or underpowered? I doubt it. And there's alot of "cam only" LS-1 f-bods running 11s, do you have a very mild cam? I'm not a mopar fan boy or anything but to assume the SRT-8 challenger is heavy and underpowered when it runs a 13 flat bone stock is ridiculous when your "Lightweight overpowered" F-body runs mid to low 13s stock.

It's still a driver's race. The Challenger SRT8 is within 2 tenths of a stock LS1

they are not weak engines by any means....they are just waay too heavy. We get them shipped in eveyday where I work. they could be fast as hell if chrysler wasnt full of a bunch of retard assholes who dont know how to make a car light.......there is no excuse for making that car as heavy as they did

True about the heavy argument.

Yes, they run similar/slightly faster times to our stock f-bodys, but they also have roughly 100 more horsepower. What does an f-body that's putting out 425 hp run, eh?

Those cars are stupidly heavy. This was proven by that suspension package that came out a couple months ago stiffening them up and shaving 400 lbs off their weight.

They'll be scary in a year or two when they are reasonably priced and the aftermarket scene has gotten ahold of them better and lightened them up.

Until then...meh. I'll keep my f-body.

Great kill, butt i have to agree, think he gave up trying after he knew the gig was up. Trap speed way to slow to support rest of the numbers.
