THat's an obviously fake ad. Some of the defining qualities these days on craigslist are:
the car is listed for sale for ~4-5k cheaper than similar cars
they have disabled the blue craigslist email reply at the top
no phone number
the email provided is always at the bottom of the description
the email provided is always a throw-away with first and last name @ yahoo or gmail or similar
Not true with this one, but most of the time if you google search the email, you will find craigslist postings all over the country for the same or different cars.
when contacted, the seller is out of town for any reason possible, and wants to process through an escrow company
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Ultra Fail :Owned: That's one of the things the scammers bank on. Tell you they are in some crazy situation where they have to sell immediately, and the first person to send the money gets the bike/car. People do it without thinking it through. You have to think about stuff like that, if the bike/car is listed so far under trade in value, then why wouldn't they just sell it to a dealership? There are legitimate deals to be had, I've found a lot of them on ebay, but I would much rather see something in person before bidding or buying it. Ebay helps because you can see a dealer's feedback on there, so they're usually good about describing things, but I would still want to drive/ride it first. Also, and this is big when buying a vehicle, NEVER hand over the money without taking the title, I would also reccomend checking to make sure it's not stolen. In some states you don't need to have the title notarized to transfer it, so it's very possible to steal a car and the title and sell it to you for cash. Once you try to register the car it's game over. ALWAYS take the title, and make sure to call any lien holders to make sure they have been paid. The bank can send the lien release papers directly to you. Sorry for the long post, but there are a lot of young members on here, many purchasing their first or second cars and looking for the best deals possible.Quote:
