That's a pretty small cam really. I know you want to keep it as a DD but a 224R or 228R would be a much better cam to look at. That's a lot of work so you want to maximize the gains and to me that's a pretty small cam to justify all the work. I run a 228R and 3500 stall and could easily DD my car. With a good tune you could even DD a cam bigger than those 2.

na, 2200 is way too small. I would look at a 3500 minimum. You could DD a 3500 easily. Shift kit is probably the right way to do it but you can have pretty close results with tuning the tranny so that's kind of a judgement call. I just did mine with tuning. I'm going out of town for the weekend....I'll get back with you Monday and help you figure out the best route for you to take.

You already have an ls6 intake which isn't a bad intake to have so mark that off. Do the stall first and get it out of the way. You can shave half a second off your ET with just the stall.....great gains for the investment. You might need a tune after the stall so find someone local that will tune it for you and then give you a discount when you come back to them for the other mods.

Just do it in stages.....unless you hit the lottery or are married to Oprah that's basically what everyone is forced to do. Sit down and write down on paper what your end goal is and list the parts needed. Knock 'em out a few at a time. The gears aren't required really but definitely don't hurt. I would put them near the bottom of that list though. Too long again...another message coming.

I went with 3500 stall ,prc stage 2.5 5.3L heads, and a 228r cam and went from a 13.9 quarter to an 11.8 quarter in the bird. That'll give you an idea of the gains you'll see after basically a stall, gears, and heads/cam. I could easily daily drive that cam and often wish I would've went to the 233 cam.

with heads/cam you'll want to get it tuned by someone that can have the car in front of them. Don't do a mail order tune. You'll also have to do a stall before or at the same time as the cam.
Message too long...sending a second one.

that's not unreasonable. How driver friendly do you want the car to be and is it an auto or stick? A decent heads/cam set up should get you 50-60HP pretty easily. Probably wouldn't have to be a real big cam either and would still be able to comfortably drive the car. The key will be your tune.
