    Hello to all;
    I have a problem with my wifes automobile (imagine that!) It is a 1997 Chev Tahoe 136K miles. it has the trans. problem p 1870 & p1870-p. I have googled that trouble code and kind of understand whats wrong. I have been driving it like this about two yrs. being as carefull as possiable with it, as it only seems to do it on hot days on the freeway or after leaving the frwy.I have checked with local trans .shops and they say the whole thing needs to be "gone through" and some changes made to the "sticking valve" and the way it's operated (pwm). I have had the pan down two times and see no signs of damage yet. I am a journeyman Diesel mechanic specialized in engines for 34 yrs. but am ignorant about automatic transmissions. I found this site and figured I may try to fix it myself if I can get some advise. All I have to offer in return is advise about "any Cat, Cummins, Detroit, Mercedes-Benz, engines or Freightliner Trucks. Thank You, Wm Young, Portland .
