    New z28 ls1

    Sup guys,
    i just bought a 1998 z28, from a old lady for 3500.
    Its in good shape with 117000 on the miles.
    Its got a few probs, im tring to work out.
    1. Its using oil but not smokeing, alitte in the mornng
    2. The oil gage bounces all over the place with plenty of oil in it but gets steady with rpms on it.
    Im looking to start building it, i got a buddy whos selling me his vette heads, so i need advise on rest
    this is what im looking to change
    intake
    CAMN
    headers
    tb
    injectors
    intake
    all help would help

    Welcome to the site. You might want to chase the oil issue first. The cars normally use some oil. But, as you start building it, if you have an oiling problem you could end up with more problems. Good luck.

    Welcome! I agree -- take a look at the oiling issue first. Is it really an issue, or do you have a sender or gauge on the way out? The sender is on top of the engine all the way in the back -- not fun to get at. '98 was one of the few years they installed actual working gauges in the car.

    He's talking about the needle bouncing up and down on the gauge. There have been a couple of recent threads on similar issues.

    A bad sending unit will cause the gauge to bounce. A Monte Carlo I had a while back did the same thing. It was gunked up inside from nasty oil and ended up with bad main bearing because of it. Thats what I would be concerned with if the sending unit doesn't fix the problem. Which it probably will. Let us know how it works out for you.
