    New T/A Owner in Minnesota

    Hi Everyone!!
Although I've owned a '98 Firebird 3800 w/5-speed since '98, I finally broke down and got an '01 T/A convertible in red with the 6-speed. Now I have 2 of these to play with!! The T/A is Ram Air with a SLP lid, K&N Filter, and Magnaflow cat-back system. The '98 has the lid and K&N, along with a WS-6 exhaust and transplanted Torsen rear end. I'm getting new wheels/tires for the T/A this spring (using dedicated winter tires at the moment), probably Torq-Thrust M 9X17 front and 10.5X17 rear. To have a better tire selection I'm going with 285/40 on the rear and 255/45 on the front (26' diameter). I see where alot of folks go with the 315 on the rear, but the tire selection is really limited, so I'm keeping it conservative. The next thing will be sub-frame connectors and a tower brace. From there, probably springs, shocks, and swaybars .... all from Strano!!!
Nice being a parrt of you guys now!!!!!!

G'day and welcome. Sounds like you're off to a good start. The only change I would suggest is forget the tower brace. They really don't do anything for the car, and the money is better used elsewhere. Look into relocating the torque arm off the tailshaft of the tranny to the crossmember.
It's not how fast you can go. It's how fast you can get there.

Agree on the moving the lower torque arm off the tranny. I figured I'd do that when the subframe connectors go in since everything bolts into the same area. As for the tower brace, I was thinking that mainly because this is a convertible, and figured any extra stiffness would be helpful!!!!
