New owner - 1997 trans-am
Hey guys,
I'm from Ontario Canada and I just bought a 1997 trans-am today.
It is my first F-body (My first G.M product actually!)
Unfortunately it has a broken 10 bolt rear. I am thinking of getting a drop in 12 bolt (new or used)
Nevertheless, I am pretty excited about my purchase and looking forward to learning from this site.
Here are some pictures and the mod list for the car.
1997 Trans-Am M6 with a T-Top (155k miles, but motor has 50k miles)

-01 5.3L LM7 Iron Block (truck harness with truck PCM)
-LS2 Timing Chain
-Ported LS6 Heads (hand ported by a local)
-TSP Torquer V2 cam 112 lsa
-.600 Lift Valve Springs
-Chromoly Pushrods
-BBK SSI intake manifold
-Ported Throttle body
-25% underdrive pulley
-ARP Crank bolt
-Billet Tensioner
-Ported/Shimmed oil pump
-Braided Throttle Cable
-Vibrant 90* Elbow
-LS6 85mm MAF
-Moroso CAI
-255LPH Walboro Fuel pump
-LT rad, 1 11/32 core vs an LS 15/16 core
Driveline:
-ACT clutch with 6 puck disk
-New Slave w/ Drill mod

Nice looking car with some healthy mods. What were her track times before the 10 bolt expired?

Grey- 1997 Pontiac Trans-Am
12.64 at 110 MPH on a 1.79 60 ft with drag radials.
I have a video of him running a 13.0 at 109 with a very easy launch, and it sounds like he was shifting a bit early (6000rpm) and being easy on the shifts.
The engine powerband is peaky, but the owner told me he did not want to stress the rod bolts too much.
I will get it on a dyno sometime in the spring to see how much more power there is between 6000-6500 rpm.
The cam is quite large for a 5.3, so if it dies off after 6k, ill probably pull the cam and put in something that gives me more torque.
