New member, Jaguar owner (LS1 swapping)

Hi,

Not new to working on stuff as I was an avid off-roader (mainly doing engine and axlew swaps into Jeeps) and a long time British car owner. I was trained in the USAF as a welder/machinist and graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a degree in Aviation Maintenance, and worked in the field a number of years, so I usually can find my own way around the toolbox. I'm currently slaved to a 2007 Dodge Ram diesel 4x4, two Mk5 Volkswagens (one of which just got a new TDI motor swap by my son and I), a 1973 MGB roadster, 1967 MGB GT, a 2002 Jaguar XKR and a 1983 Jaguar XJ6 Series III Vanden Plas.

The XJ6 is a beaut which had been garaged for the last 25 years, but was originally parked in the early '90's due to "engine troubles". Long story short, owner wanted $75 and his garage space back, so home it came. The engine issues lead to deciding on an LS1 swap, so now I have new engine and transmission mounts (and lots of other parts) from Jaguar Specialties and a 2001 Camaro LS1 5.7L and 4l60e sitting in my garage.

I'll be asking lots of questions as I work through this swap as the last one of this difficulty level was in 2001, swapping a 5.2L Dodge and auto transmission into a 1997 Jeep Wrangler.
