So this is my first entry....I am a (young) senior citizen...lifelong gearhead....I love all Chevy engines but mostly small blocks. The LS engines are definitely blazing new trails in the "pushrod" community. I had the opportunity to observe some dyno testing of the LS7 during development at Gm's Tech Center and could not believe my eyes!!

To be honest, I have not yet owned and LS engine or so equipped vehicle; my "toy" is a bone stock 94 Z28, whose performance is as follows:
    0-60: 6.3 1/4...14.59/95.89 "indicated" level road top speed..147
real world fuel efficiency: daily driving..20 mpg; highway (only one trip)..25-26

I am seriously considering either an LS drivetrain transplant (stealth vehicle huh) or selling this ride and buying a newer one so equipped. Advantages of keeping this car...INSURANCE!! Well...thats my short range plan...
I appreciate this site and have visited several times without posting so ...now I have.

Well that just means the family doesn't get to ride in it. makes it lighter and more fun then.

you are rite but then my kids and grandkid wud all be mad at me..they love riding but i dont want them fighting over which one gets to ride...so both ride in the Z...sometimes my wife even!! LOL one thing ..the kids dont drive daddy's toy...even though they are pretty responsible adults

you guys are all rite...bout "go with the LS"...I should pro'lly just sell my ride and find an LS ....one of my (pizza place) acquaintances has done the route with his...its so baaaaaaaad...but 6 speed, not auto. I have done my time with manuals (drag raced for years with a "crash box" 4 speed or 5) but now i appreciate the technologies in the latest "electronic" self shifters. Now if they would just include "paddle shifters" or tiptronic features........I can dream cant I??
