New member from Australia - HSV GTS

    Hey there guys.

My name is James and have been here before, back in the days when LS1.COM was still a joint forum Aus/American...I am still on the LS1.COM.AU also.

Anyway, had a few cars and am back in the fold with a HSV GTS, fitted with the LS2 6.0L. It has an X-force 2.5 inch full stainless system with extractors, lowered and also a sunroof. Will be tuned in the next few weeks.....

    See picture below.

I am doing a bit of research into good egine oils for these cars as I have been told, Mobil 1 10W-30 is too slippery for the drive train and I am better of with a good SAE oil in 15W-40?

Will be finding out what you guys in the warmer areas are using? I have read good stuff about the Shell Rotella here in Aus also (15w-40). Will keep digging..

    James

Welcome to the site, alot of people on here go with penzoil platinum 10-30, due to a better shear rate than mobil 1. There are plenty of threads on here, that have used oil analysis recods. Good luck finding what you need.

That car is beautiful. I'd look twice if i saw that car in my rear view mirror. Our fellow moderator Sarge is a genius in Tribology, it's like the study of lubricants. If you search for his Oil threads, he offers great advice. CompSyn also has some good threads with Oil related info in it. From what I've heard, Amsoil is the best, but is pretty high priced as well.
