Need to use a web site like Photobucket in order to post.
http://www.ls1.com/forums/f98/how-po...bucket-138199/
Also you need to get your post count up some more.
Welcome to the site. 98's are fun, have one myself. It's almost like we are a unique club around here. Have any questions just ask away in the tech sections.

Welcome and congrats on the purchase!
Has the car already been modded or is she mostly stockish?

When I bought it it was bone stock. I've added a Corsa Catback. I have headers and a Y pipe, just haven't installed them yet. When I was looking for one I wanted a bone stock one.

Welcome and congrats on the purchase. I did the same thing over 10 years ago when I got my TA. I figured if it has kinda low miles (40k) and was bone stock, it prob wasn't beat up on that much. Also I can mod it the way I want and not the way someone else modded it. The best thing about this site is you can learn from everyone else's mistakes. What parts NOT to buy etc.

Same here, mine was a clean bone stock car, even had the original clutch at 108k miles. Drove it for another 8 months before I upgraded to the LS7.
98's have some quirks and more bonus then the later yrs.
Only quirks are the ECM is a first gen and some tuners either can't or won't get the software/adapters to tune it. Frost (a site sponsor and one of the best mail order tunes you can get) can. I as well as many others have his tune. Oil Pump - 97-98 LS1's have had issues, enough so that if you seriously consider doing a cam, do the oil pump as well.
Pro's - no chicken pox, door panels don't crack, the stock cam is slightly bigger then the other yrs but suffer with the crappiest heads. Get a LS6 intake and LT's plus Frost tune and she wakes up a lot.
These cars are great to have, like all cars treat with respect and TLC and have fun. Fair warning once the mod bug bites, it bites hard and never lets go.
In my signature you can see what I've done and currently have underway.Last edited by SMWS6TA; 01-08-2014 at 08:49 AM.

Thanks for the info. I didnt know till I called around some local performance shops asking if they could tune my car and they told me what you said. Apparently the 98's have a different ECM than later LS1's. Lucky me LOL. I used to have a 97 TA years ago I sold in order to go to school and I had alot of work done to it. Lost my butt on that car when i sold it and I've hated everyday after that I sold it. I will rebuild the motor on this one next winter. I dont plan on doing anything crazy with it just make it a nice weekend cruiser.

I'd talk with Tick Performance since they are in your neck of the woods.
