    New here and need help!!

Hello my name is Dean, I live in East Texas, and I just baught my first LS1 (A 2000 Trans-Am). In the past I have had two other TA's, a 79 and a 95, but never had the urge to make them anything that they already werent. Its a little different story now. I want alot of performance out of this car, but I have no idea where to start. If any of you could help me with where I should start I would be greatful. Thanks alot. Dean

just do a lot of reading and ask questions in the different forums. There's a stickied post at the top of the general section that will iron out a lot of the common bolt ons for you.

welcome to the forum i wish when i started i would have done subframe connectors first. ive heard of people hooking up with a lot of power and cracking the paint on the car or worse twisting it up.

Let me ask you this do you have at least 1500 to put in the car? Otherwise your going to be pissing with mods that you wont be feeling big improvements on.

Just a couple questions.....I have been planning on the headers, but I heard that you had to keep the o2 sensor within a couple of inches of where it originally is. Is this true? If so or not where and how would i mount it? Also if I run true duels what size pipe do I need to use, and what is the best way to route it? And also, do tips make that big of a difference? If so what is the best??

You don't have to keep your O2s in or near the original location, but you do need to get a tune to correct your a/f ratio after the install. Your headers will have O2 bungs welded in, just screw em in and forget about it.

You can run 2 1/2" or 3" tds. Most people go 2 1/2" if they go all the way to the back... if you get dumps, might as well do 3". 2 1/2" is more than adequate for most LS1s on here.

yeah if you go bigger than 2.5'' without enough power you will lose back pressure and your low end will suffer for it, the c5 z06 uses 2.5''. When you say tips what do you mean, exhaust tips?

I say for first mod, weld in Subframe Connectors. Especially with a t-top. They make your drive soo much better. With these cars, they start off with good power, and if you improve driveability you'll be much happier. Then get a lid, exhaust, etc.
