New Guy LS1 57 chevy
Hello, I'm new to the LS1 scene but not new to cars. I'm 41 and been working on cars since I was 13. Owned a 68 camaro SS with a 427 big block and a 4 speed, this was my pride and joy. Just bought a 98 Z28 for the motor to install in a 57 chevy and I've been reading some of your hp tricks. I guess this old dog needs to learn a few new tricks LOL I know very little about the LS motors but I do know they run very good! So I maybe asking for some advice like cam selection intakes thing to make it go faster. Also I may have some left over parts to get rid of when I'm done with the car.
Thanks
Scott

Thanks for the welcome, I have already ordered the upgraded PCV setup from Thunderracing. I'll have to checkout Texas-speed.com
I really hate to tear apart the camaro but I got it at a good price that couldn't turn it down. There is nothing wrong with the camaro, my buddy was driving it to work the day I bought it from him.

Yeah I agree with you on the clutch deal. The sad part is MOST can't even drive these new cars with a hyd. clutch and easy internal shifted trannys. They couldn't even begin to bang some gears on a Top Loader with a leg breaking 3 finger in it!!
The picture deal is MUCH easier if you host your pics on another site. I use PimpAndHost.com. Once you upload pics on their site it will give you links to click on where you will just right click and hit paste with there code.

Those hyd. clutches are cheating LOL let them try a Hays 3500# pressure plate in traffic

just curious as to why you would tear apart a perfectly good car. you can find these cars wrecked all the time. im sure someone would make a good home for the Z28.

I'm inline to inherit my friends 57 belair. I'd love to replace the 355 tripower with an ls1. Are you using the original frame, and just using conversion mounts? I was thinking about going this route first. If I had a big budget I'd get a art morrision or jim meyer complete frame. It could use a frame off resto. but it's really clean for a really nice occasional driver. I repainted the car back in 98. So the paint is still holding up good, just a few rust bubbles starting to show.

No he's doing fine. Just getting things figured out now that he's getting older. He just wants to make sure this car and his all original numbers matching (including the original headlights and original writting on the firewall) 57 belair convert are going to good homes. The convert is a factory powerpak car. White with a white top. Sadly the convert is going to be sold and the pair split up.
Those are 14" appliance wheels with gold centers. They were a smaller wheel manufacturer back in the day. Probably out of business now. They've been on the car since 1980 that I know of. The gold on the rims go with the gold belair emblems.
I don't have any more current pics, just old 35mm pics that I need to get scaned into my computer one of these days.
I will probably be replacing them with some 17 and or 18" front/ rear combo, torque thrust 2s and airride. I want to beable to really drive the car around some corners if I feel like it.Last edited by Frozen WS6; 06-22-2008 at 07:10 PM.
