Don't worry, you'll catch on quick and will be posting like it's second nature soon
For your profile pic, go to your 'user CP' which is at the upper left corner.
Then, under 'your profile', 'edit profile picture'. From there, choose a picture you want from your computer and upload it.
While in the user CP, you can also upload an avatar under 'settings and options'
Just cruse around in the user CP and you'll find several things you can do.
