New to Forum, In need of immidate help!

got a 98 tran am and it is great! Everything was going great untill about three days ago, got home for about an hour then had to run to the store, 2nd gear just went neutral. I eased of the gas and felt it engage around 1500 rpm's but once it hit 2500 rpm's it would go neutral again. I asked around and people said it was the neutra safety switch. I replaced it and it's practically doing the same thing but now instead of going neutral it stays in 2nd gear an revs it. Anyone that got an idea of what it could be I would really appeciated it!

First of all the neutral safety switch only keeps the car from starting in any other gears except park, and neutral. Serves no other function..

Second your trans is probably junk... That is a common symptom of an auto tranny that has just failed....Time for new tranny IMHO good luck
