Morning - doing LS1 research
Hi all, I'm from the UK so there isn't a great supply of V8s but I have the bug to put an LS1 in something smaller than they usually occupy!
I NEED a V8 but also want it in a fiarly small body, a tall order! Only things like that as stock are silly money over here so I'm busy doing research into the LS series engines (probably LS1, 2 or 6 from the sounds of things).
Currently the most likely candidate for the engine is an E36 BMW. It seems reasonably tried and tested on LHD cars in the US. In such a small car I don't think I need to overdo the engine power (need to find out how much the rear axle will take...).
Anyway I'm rambling...anyone know a good source of 2nd hand engines gearboxes? I'm assuming that the LS1 is fairly common over the pond, unlike here!
Cheers
Rob

Are you looking for an automatic transmission (a4)or a manual (m6)?

Manual, although not done enough research to find out which one. The guys doing the E36 transplants seem to use a T56 but from the video I've seen this seems awfully notchy on the gear change.
From what I've read this is the strongest option but maybe I don't need this and can gain a bit by using a different box? Research to be done...
