White- 1999 30th Ann Trans Am
Maximum Power from a 30th Ann Trans Am
Does anyone know what modifications need to be made in order to get the maximum, unadulterated 350HPs from an LS1? My 30th Trans Am is limited to the stock 320HP and I know the engine is capable of more.
Thank you!

Thanks Predator for the reply.
Rumor has it one can replace the computer chip or something like that which limits the output of the the vehicle. Do you know anything about this?

OBD2 cars dont have chips like the old JET chips...
they get tuned.. Basically you edit the cumputer software that runs the car... you can either do this with a laptop (which is the best way since it is more precise) or use a hand held tuner like a superchips or diablo (which is easier)... Look around the site and youll find all sorts of info on it... just dont call it a chip... its a tune... then you wont give away your noobness to the guys at the races...
a tune will also let you delete speed limits, change the speedo to match tire size or gearing, turn off traction control (or have it be off as default instead of on as default), turn off your CAGS (thing that makes you hit 4th instead of second), change shift points (in an auto), and adjust your fuel air ratio (which is pretty much what gives you the bump in performance when coupled with spark timing and the like)....
BTW what direction are you looking to go with the car? You gonna go all out with it? Just perk it up a lil? Is it a daily driver (please say no)?

Gearing is also a good way to perk up your car... 4:11's in a 6 speed and 3:73s in an auto (with a stall converter) will really make a difference.

Maximum Power
Wow! There's a lot of info there. Thanks! I'm not real versed with this stuff so Iive definately got some homework to do.
It's definately not a daily driver. It's in mint condition with only 8500 miles on it. I'm the original owner and intend on keeping it that way for the foreseable future.
Thanks a bunch for the info. I'll keep in touch as I do the work. I'm really only looking to get the full 350 output of the LS1 (like the 35th Ann or Vette). I hope I can do that.
Thanks again.
