I'd take an LS1 over an LT1 any day of the week but how much do you know about the other car? how many miles are on both cars...? If yours has 200,000 miles and the LS1 has 300,000 miles i'd say stay away lol need more info to answer this question accurately...

so if his car has 100,000 more miles, is newer, and has a better motor why is he interested in trading straight up? Just trying to figure out if he has motivation to get rid of it for a reason...do you know anything about the car? Mods, who owns it, what type of maintenance its had, etc?

The cars owned by an older gentleman, no mods on it. He bought it from a dealer in 2010. Sounds like he wants something different. Pretty sure he like the giant wing on my camaro

Only problem I see is the auto transmission. The auto's even under the stock motor will need to be rebuilt after 177k. Just be prepared for a rebuild. A good trans shop will install all the good parts for around $1000. Then while its out, you might as well put in a good convertor. Add another $600-$1000 to the budget.

at the end of the day a well taken care of LS1 can last 250,000-300,000 pretty easily...does the guy have any service records? Usually I wouldnt mention that but the car has almost 200,000 miles on it so I'd want to see something before I took it. Hopefully he's had the rear end serviced in some form because the rear ends in these cars arent that great.

I wouldnt say no to it, just be smart...if something doesnt seem right its because something isnt right. Drive it and pay attention to what it does.
