Pewter- 2000 Firebird Formula WS6
An introduction and a sad story
Hi all! Finally not lurking the forums and dreaming about something LS powered any more because back in June I finally managed to get myself a Firebird! It's a 2000 Formula WS6 (manual 6 of course ). I took it home on a Thursday and drove it from where I live in south Louisiana to Selmer, TN for a car show the very next day! It was awesome, I absolutely LOVE my Firebird.
I'm the third owner. It had about 95,700 miles on it when I got it and currently sits about 101k. The guy I bought it from lives near me and had owned it about a year. The original owner was from Texas. The previous owner made no modifications himself and only knew for sure that the original owner had put long-tube headers on and "blew out the cats" (his words). He did not know if any other engine modifications had been done.
Which brings me to the "sad" part of my story. I drove it to work one day a few weeks ago and had to go out on a service call (I'm a computer tech). I pulled out from a red light, just straightened out from making a left turn, accelerating and just about to go into 2nd gear... something snapped. I pull over to the side of the road, shut the engine off immediately, some smoke comes up inside the car, I get out and look behind me... there's a long streak of what looks like oil. I look under the car and oil is just running out making a big puddle. Well, I call a wrecker, get my baby home and get a second opinion from my uncle... and confirm, it threw a rod
I haven't had time yet to get it up on a lift or anything where I can survey the damage but will hopefully be doing that soon. So I'll be looking for some advice on where to go with this in another forum post hopefully in the next few days.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading

oil changes and upgrades
Previous owner said that he did oil changes himself and kept up with it... *shrug* who knows.
As for upgrades, that's definitely what I was thinking but, as always, it depends on $$$ as I'm currently in the process of moving into another house.
