Howdy from Canada
I am presently and for the past 4 years installing an LS1 into my 58 short box Chev Apache. The first motor was a used one with 4l60E trans. but had a seized lifter once I got it running so I lost money from that guy that took 2 years to install as he could no longer warrenty from his supplier. So tok it to a hot rod shop and they were going to rebuild and that ended in epic failure as well. So now I have ordered 04 GTO LS1 from Mena AK. and will put in myself. The first LS1 was running after pulling it from the 1st guy, it sounded great other than the seized lifter and motor overall was dirty.
My engine arrived last week and will go in next week. I will post up date.
Hope I can learn lots of upgrades and tech.
Happy hot roddingLast edited by lowrider; 07-28-2010 at 05:08 PM.

Welcome aboard. At the very least you have all the provisions to just drop in the other motor. Any pics of the ride?
Do a cam swap before she goes in

Welcome aboard!
Would also love to see some pictures of your truck.
Post your build thread with pictures in the classic muscle section. We need more classics in there

Feels like home
Thanks for the great welcome, I had a good look around yesterday, espeacialy at stall/torque converters as I am rebuilding the trans with a monster kit which I'm told should make the trans. fairly bullet proof and want to drop in a higher stall than the factory. From the posts I saw I should be in the 3600-3800 range!?! The only changes at this point will be reflash the computer and should be in the 390 HP range stock. once project is rolling I will start changing up others. I saw lots of great up grades and want to maximize dollar/HP ratios. I will add pics soon just need to figure out how...

A lot of use photobucket to post pictures. There is a sticky at the top of the New Members section that can get you started if you don't already use photobucket
