How did LT1 come before LS1? abcdefg..s t ?!!!

The LT1 was just an aluminum headed spin off of the old Iron small block chevy, and a more modern version of the antique LT1..
The LSx line of engines is entirely different beast.. GM rarely does anything in alphabetical orders persay.
Maybe others will chime in here as my LSx knowledge is limited..
Prolly better to go by the last number in the engines designations.. LS1 was first, then LS2, LS6 etc, etc...
However it's also not really a very good way to denote lineage either..
Example: The LQ1 is an all chevy 207-CID DOHC V6, but the LQ9 is large displacement V8..
