    Hi

Hello to every one. I have been working on cars for 60 years but always repairing or restoring.
I just got a complete 2001 WS6 car. I want to put the LS1 and T56 in one of my 70-72 El Caminos. I have been checking the Threads and have picked up some ideas. I wonder if anyone has put the Pontiac Dash in a 70-72 E C or Chevelle. I wanted to use as much of the Pontiac as I can. Wiring Harness, Sensors, Cooling, AC, and Brakes.
I would appreciate an help that you can supply.
    Thank You
    BFSD

Welcome! I have no idea about the dash -- I would do an awful lot of measuring, but my guess is the Elky may be wider and not have as much curvature.

I have been taking measurements. I don't think that I can use the whole Dash, but I was looking at using the gauges.
I see that you are from Mansfield. I lived in Wellsboro for 11 years. Also in Troy for a while.

Small world. You'll have access to PM's after being on ths site for a while. Shoot me a message then and we'll play catch up and see who we both know.

On the '02 gauge cluster, the temp gauge isn't worth a damn. It is a temp estimator at best. I think '98s are the only ones that had working temp gauges.

It was in a front collision. I have had the frame horns aligned and new arms, lowering springs and disk brake set up ready to go. I was going to restore it when I found this WS6 and decided to give it a try. I have all the parts to do the restore but I want to try this swap. I will need a lot of help with the engine fit and mounts. Also the wiring and computer. My daily driver is a 70 Malibu with over 400,000 Miles so I want to try to get this going so I can get something else on the road. I only drive my 96 Impala SS on weekends.

There are a couple of LS1 swap books on the market that you can look up on Amazon. As long as you have the PCM and harness from the '02 you are ahead of the game.

Thank You. I have the whole car. The engine and trans are OK. As a Matter of Fact the whole car looks great except the right front a arm and the rear end. The right rear hit the curb in a slide and pushed the rear to the left about a foot. The unibody is twisted. The wiring and everything is OK. I will check for the books.

Wish you were closer -- I'd be happy to take what's left off your hands once you remove what you need.

Yes the whole body except the right front fender is good. And of course the unibody is twisted. Hood, front bumper, rear bumper, hatch, exhaust, and doors are great. I am going to try to use the steering column and seats.

The column and ignition system is equipped with VATS -- there is a resistor in the key that allows the car to start. They have been problematic for a lot of guys, so you may want to just perform the VATS bypass and be done with it.
