Hey Yall Newb from Cali
Hello everybody!
I recently purchased a 2002 Z28. Bought it from a retired gentleman, it only had just over 18k mi. when i got it. Super clean custom ordered from the dealership. Heres a lil bit about my car.
-Z28
-Hardtop(no t-top)
-Cloth int.
-M6 with Hurst short throw shifter
-Monsoon 500W (actually sounds pretty decent) LOUD!!!
aftermarket mods:
-Poly rear bushings
-Strut tower brace
-Flowmaster muffler(just the muffler, not the catback)
Hope to learn alot from this forum!
Can someone please explain the differences between z28 & SS? How do i achieve the same HP and Torque as an SS???

Pewter- 1999 Camaro SS-M6 #1775
Welcome! any pics?
its not hard to get up to hp of the SS's
just intake and exhaust and you should be close
differences are suspension, 32mm sway bar, functional hood scoop, spoiler, and SS badging.
Im not positive thats everything so hopefully others will chime in.1999 Camaro SS/ Pewter/ #1775 - LS1 6-speed - Predator 3 Custom Tune - Pro 5.0 - LS7 Clutch - 3.90's - Koni's - Strano Springs and Sway Bars - SFC's - Full UMI Chassis and Suspension - LS6 Intake PnP TB - ARH LT's and Kitty Ran Away - Magnaflow.

BLACK- 2000 Camaro SS
Difference is very minor. Put on a better flowing catback, put on an aftermarket lid, and you'll have a bit more hp than most stock SS's

I think Im gonna start small with a lid/ftra, I have been constantly searching for an appropriate exh system but i am so unsure. I dont want to waste money on ca emission legal headers if i will see only little gains. I want an exaust that sounds mean but not something i'd get tired of hearing(right now i have just a flowmaster muffler). Any advice on a cali emissions friendly full exhaust combo would be great. I just dont want any clearance issues. Possibly go with a 1 inch susp. drop in the future??? Anyone know wherer to get a good tune in Ca?

Im not sure on headers or what you would need to have in cali to pass emissions but as far as a cat-back system i love the magnaflow system, its affordable, lifetime warranty and it sounds awesome! and its also all stainless steel.

Thanks, I was looking more towards Borla, but i checked out some sound clips for the magnaflow and it sounds sick!! You're right, alot more affordable! Thanks for the recommendation Tyler. Whats your view on 'dyno tuning'?
