Hello from Traverse City, MI
Last year bought a 2000 T/A. This spring I have deleted the EGR and AIR systems. I have removed and replaced the factory exhaust with BBK Long Tube Headers and Off Road Y-pipe and SLP exhaust. I am looking for a DYNO and Tuner in Northern Michigan. Also any other simple upgrades to add HP and MPG's that anyone can suggest. Also if there are any gatherings of any sort in Northern Michigan.

Welcome to the site!
Have you swapped out the factory air lid yet?

Not yet. I had looked at the SLP one but not committed to one yet. Any suggestions?

Just get the regular SLP lid. They are around 100 new.
You will not find the Blackwing lid. They stopped producing it almost 9 years ago now and if you do come across one they're fetching upwards of 300. But if your heart is set on it, I have oneBoost gets you laid, unless your name is Jon.

SLP lid works just fine. Just make sure that the lid is installed behind the lip of the lower air box.

Welcome fellow Michigander!
As far as gatherings, the mifbody is the biggest one around here I know of, and that's about a 4 hour ride for you.
I might have my car up your way this summer, girlfriend needs to check outta few places and I want to go to Shorts Brewery out by Torch.

I'm willing to travel. I travel all over Northen Michigan for my job and there's no better car for the roads up here than a T/A. Shorts in Bellaire is awesome! There are great places all over up here!

Your car doesn't NEED a dyno with your mods. But it wouldn't hurt either.

So if a dyne isn't "needed" how hard is it to tune? Tuning is new to me and I have no clue what I am doing when it comes to that. Mechanically, I would say I know what I am doing for the most part.

Tuning on our cars is all done by computer. You need a program like HP Tuners or EFI Live to access and overwrite the information on the PCM. Also, it isn't a simple matter of setting the timing, the idle and the mixture like on older cars. There are literally hundreds of tables that can be adjusted and without the proper knowledge you can make a mess in a hurry. The most important table is probably your volumetric efficiency which reflects your engine's ability to move air in and out of the cylinders. Any time you make a mechanical change, such as installing headers, a new cam, heads, intake, etc... you alter the volumetric efficiency.

So, what you're saying is it's better to have someone who knows what they are doing do the tune!

Would be something I am interested in learning and wouldn't mind spending the $ on it depending on how in depth I get this year. Now I need to find someone in Northern Michigan with a tuner and would like to put it on the dyne just to see what my baseline is.
