Hello.
I'm a new member and I have a 2001 TA WS6. I have a Flowmaster catback, Hypertech programmer, SLP MAS and 160 thermostat. I'm wanting to put a bigger converter and gears but I do drive it every day. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

well the a4's came with 2.73's or 3.23's as an option. Tell you what take her on a long straight away gun it and if you can't get past 160 then you have the 3.23's. Unfortunatley a converter just might kill your tranny and rearend with the added 3.73's just make sure you have the money to replace it if it craps on you.

what about a TCI Break-Away converter. Stalls about 2400-2800. Seems like rpms start about 2500 and I'm shifting at 6200. Also 160 thermostat not working. car runs about 198. used programmer but car clatters bad. I asume its do to timing getting turned up by programmer.

Yes I understand how a thermastat works, but if it opens at 160 then the car should run cooler because the water temp is much cooler at 160 than at 198 which is factory. Also, car does not clatter now, only when I set programmer to 160 degrees but the car still runs 198. If I set it back to stock setting for thermostat, it does not clatter.
