Greetings To The Site 'Veterans', Newbie Here

    Hello,
I am registering on the best LS1 information/tech sites that I can find. I am preparing a '99 LS1/T56 F-Body drivetrain to go into a '73 Datsun 240Z. Nice, light car + Light, POWERFUL drivetrain = Many soiled undergarments of my passengers :~o

Anyway, I am REALLY unfamiliar with building engines. Cosmetic, paint, details, those are where my comfort zone is. I have purchased the OE Service Manual set, and two paperback books to try to learn as much as absolutely possible about this powerplant.

I have also gone to InstallUniversity.com and LS1HowTo.com I am trying to be a sponge with information; but, it does get a bit overwhelming. For those whom I might contact with seemingly ridiculous questions, please try to bear in mind that I come here with a quest for understanding and knowledge, and NOT to waste anyone's time.

Hopefully, someday I will CONTRIBUTE information here.

Thanks for the welcome gang. I have just taken it off the rotisserie as most of the structural welding is complete. I am doing some minor body customization [motorcycle gas cap, vintage jaguar 'reverse louver' hood w/ naca duct, etc.]. Then, I have to merely fab the trans mount, mock-up the driveline, then break it down for paint.
I try to use guys like Chip Foose and the like as inspiration. The hard part is that they have a staff of workers making it all happen QUICKLY, whereas I'm all alone and things just take a long time.
I'm especially unfamiliar with mechanical aspects. I bought the three volume Service Manual for my original powerplant; but, due to uncontrolled enthusiasm have 'painted myself into a corner' by buying incompatible parts with the intent of 'upgrading'. The smart guys always leave the stuff alone!
I am also reading the Christopher Endres & Will Handzel books. Tons of useful information, in addition to this great site; but, the information is pretty much geared for those 'in the know'. I have a huge garage, full of virtually every tool that I could think of, and next to ZERO experience with building motors & transmissions.
Last, I do have pics; but, no idea how to post them. I just have them on my desktop; but, if I'm not mistaken I need the 'hosted' somewhere. Again, VERY little computer knowledge too.
On the positive side, I'm an expert on fitness, and damn good woodworker
