Google says you guys know your Gen IV stuff

So here I am. I am getting ready to start building a Ford Ranger for desert racing. I've decided that if the stock 4.0 OHV takes more than a tune up and a battery to get running, then it's getting pulled right away, even if it doesn't it will probably be pulled before the truck sees dirt, so I've been researching all my options.

I'm looking on E-bay and the 5.3 is looking damn good. They are a dime a dozen, have 250+ hp stock, have a fair amount of upgrades available, and don't need any kind of conversion parts to bolt up a TH400. I will mostly be lurking to get my info, but I may do some posting if I think I can contribute.

P.S. You guys have some interesting emoticons.
