Red- 1998 Firebird
Firebird to T/A
Hey guy...im new here and new to F-Bodies as well....I have always wanted a trans am since I was 15. Recently I found a 1998 V6 Firebird for sale and for the price the guy wanted for it I couldn't pass it up. I plan on putting some hard money into this car in the next couple of years and I plan on starting by upgrading it to a T/A (swaping the V6 for the LS1 engine, T/A bumper, hood...etc.) My question is is it possible to turn a completely stock Firebird into a stock WS6 Trans AM. If so how would I go about doing that... Thanks for all your help.

black- 98 formula
better yet buy a formula. their much cheaper than a t/a and you can get an ls1 car for under 5k, which by the way you'll spend more than 5k to convert a v6 car. It's a good plan you have but money wise it'll run ya into the poor house.

yeah I agree with every on else the convertion is goind to be BIG TIME $$$$ you'd have to change almost everything under the car front bumper to rear bumper, just enjoy yer firebird until you can afford a t/a which are not to expesive now, I drove a 94 firebird w/t-tops for years and enjoyed it until I could afford my V8 you still got a nice look'in car...

00 TA PWTR, 98 VertTA NBM- 80 TA BLK, 80 Formula NBM
do not convert it. . . if anything swap the engine if you really want and have a good sleeper. . . however even at that just buyin a formula or ta would be much cheaper and less of a headache.

Welcome to the board. It'd probably be cheaper just to buy a ws6. For example, there is one for sale with like 60k miles for $8500 on another board. You'de have to worry about motor/trans, paint, body panels, etc .. it all adds up, paint isn't cheap! If its for sentimental reasons that you wanna keep your current car, I've been there done that, got rid of it anyway.

You could build your v-6 for a turbo

Blue 1997 Trans Am(Sold)- Pewter 2001 Trans Am Vert
ya I'm going to have to repeat what everyone else has said... its been done, tried and contemplated and its not worth the hassle. WAY back in the day I was going to convert my LT1 into an LS1 and even that would have been totally not worth it.
The only way this would work is if you were thinking of going hardcore I mean 427 built everything because then you'll have to replace everything whether its a TA or Firebird so you might as well start small I guess...
