    finally an SS

Since I was 14 years old I've wanted an SS of some sort. I finally got one. I just bought a 98 Camaro SS, 6 speed. The price was right, but it wasn't very well cared for. I have the intake off right now changed knock sensors and the oil seals ii the valley cover(the sensors were full of oil). Nothing like having to work on it right out of the gate. O well, seems to be plenty of good advice here.

I'm 34- it only took 20 years! originally I wanted a late 60's musclecar, but as we all know, your money goes a lot farther if you go 4th gen f-body.

my dad was a pontiac mechanic in the sixties and seventies and bought chevelles and gtos new, so I grew up the son of a car guy. It needs an a/c compressor, and the 5-6 syncro is weak in the t-56. I have the intake off now changing the knock sensors and wiring harness.

That's a damn nice start w/ all that mechanical history. Sounds like you probably have all the tools to do it to, Good luck on the fixes I believe one of the mods here is a parts dealer if you need anything.

Congrats on the SS. I always wanted a Z and when I bought my first one the 6 speed tranny went out a week later! But I had it fixed, and now attempting to rebuild one myself. My dad was also a mechanic so I know how ya feel bout fixin it yourself! Congrats and goodluck!
