Camaro at the Beach
Name's Ryan and I'm from Solana Beach, California.
I just got my '98 Z28 with around 107,000.
I know that may seem like a lot, but it's in great condition and I'm really enjoying the power.
The engine/bay is kinda dirty though, I'm wondering what I can do to remedy this....other than actually taking off the coil packs/valve covers/etc.
Anyway, about me.......I'm pretty big on surfing and I used to be ranked 12th in high school longboarding, til I got bored with the slowness of those heaping piles. Now I'm just your average shortboarder, but couldn't be happier.
I work at a local Kragen autoparts (don't hate me, I'm really learning a lot and it's a fun job) and slowly building my knowledge base for later on in life.
I just wanted to say this site was really helpful in making my decision and showing me what owning an LS1 is like.

Yeah, I'm thinking degreasing will work fine.

Once you get it all clean. Follow it up with CD-2 engine detailer.

Cool.
Also, is there a special cloth or something that I should use?
I was just thinking of using some generic red shop rags (clean ones, of course!).
One last question: what's the easiest way of dealing with a stuck on tight shift knob (it's an M6)?
I was thinking just put it in first and twist really hard.
Thanks for all the help guys!

The absolute best way to get that dirt off your engine bay is by this...
Put some degreaser in their... wipe as much as possible... spray off with water.
When the car is going to be sitting for the rest of the night, walk back out, spray a lot of degreaser and let it sit over night... come back out and spray it again and voila. Should be sparkling.
