What do I need

If I have a laptop, what connectors and software would I need to connect to my 98 trans am to see live whats going on with the car? What is it going to cost me to get set up for this?

it really depends on what you're wanting to do. Are you wanting to tune it or just data log it and do diagnostics? Autotap will let you see live data and data log while the editors like efilive and hptuners will let you data log AND tune. If you hunt around you can find used autotaps pretty cheap ~$150. The editors go for quite a bit more than that.

Well, the computer was tuned by PCMforless. Supposed to be good. But Im having trouble with it falling flat on its face soon after I start it up and try to drive away. Usually no throwing a code. Ive dumped money and new parts into it and cant figure out whats causing it. I want to log whats going on so maybe I can figure it out.

then you have to ask yourself if once you find out what's going on what are you gonna do? Send it to pcmforless again, another tuner, or learn to tune yourself. If the first 2 you could get away with just getting a used autotap, if the last one then I would look at an editor.
