used predator

I am thinking about buying a used predator. Can you get updates and custom tunes if your not the original owner?

absolutely, but be warned, with a predator even if the previous owner returns his computer to stock the programmer stays locked to his vin until it is send to predator to be unlocked, it's 100 bucks for the service. The predator tune HAS to be back in the predator meaning the previous owner had to return his to stock, that's the only way they will unlock it, and it is still $100

That is not true with the updated series 2 Predator. I called diablo about this, and they told me that the new series 2 update does not have to be sent back. So i bought a updated series 2 from a friend, as long as the programmer was completely removed/restored to factory it will work in the other applications for that predator. Series 2 does not vin lock like the old ones.

It's about time they did that, I love the predator as far as handhelds go, but I always thought it was crappy of em to make it VIN lock and try to make money off of the same predator over and over

I got the predator from a friend with a 99 silverado, he pulled the tune from his truck and i plugged it right in and programmed my Z28.

That's awesome, that was the only real complaint I had about predator, how long has series 2 been out? Also is that a whole new programmer or once an old one is updated to 2.x whatever it is now does it work the same?

Not sure how long its been out, but my friend sent his old one back and got the Series II update installed. He said it was $99 to have it updated. Im not sure if you have to be the original owner or not. He sent it back a couple months before I got it from him. Ive had it month or so, and I love it

Hmmm...I've got one of the first models that came out and original owner...wonder if they'll update mine for free if I pay the postage, and if the update fixes the !CAGS and gear changes? Time to visit RWTD's site.

Does the Predator have something in the display to indicate if it is a newer style series 2? Any idea how long they have been selling the newer series? I found a guy selling a used one, but if I have to pay $100 plus shipping to have the VIN cleared, it changes the picture quite a bit.

Well, I went over to DiabloSports website. Is the Predator primarily a Ford oriented product? I saw this blurb:

Ford vehicles only: Export the Live Data Log from the Predator to PC in order to be viewed using our free Windows DAT Viewer
Ford vehicles only: Stream the Live Data while driving from the Predator to laptop in order to be viewed using our free Windows DAT Viewer.

I don't know, but wouldn't those capabilities be handy for using on my Z06 as well? Will they be coming in a future update?

When my predator starts up it says Diablo Sport Series II.If it is the series II it does not need to have the vin flashed just needs the program completely pulled from the other vehicle it was used on. As for the live data, GM shows live data on the handheld when in diagnostic mode, but ive never heard anything about the laptop hookup on this feature for GM

i called the number you posted and the guy told me they didn't cary predator programmers. he said they have a programmer made by granatelli for $325.
