I have all 3. Hptuners has the pricing edge and more support do to the number of users but IMO the efilive manual is better and helps along the beginner a little better. Edit is completely out of the picture these days.

I have all three as well and agree 100%. I learned how to tune useing the EFI Live and have pushed my stock short block too over 600 rwhp uncorrected

The LS1 Edit wouldn,t be worth buying, it's too much to transfer over and update. My HP Tuners I paid $9000.00 for so it wouldn't save you too much. And I just love my EFI Live and couldn't bare to part with it. Sorry

Which HP Tuner would you recommend the Standard or Pro? I plan to do my car and a few more, but not many. Could I tune without dyno and get decent power curve for DD? Not looking for peak HP.

Most would recommend the pro, you can view the added features here http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2924

Get the pro so you can import wideband data, or look at doing the EGR wire mod... honestly I just paid for Pro and was happy to do it. HPT Pro FTW!

Before I dive in, I'll get a basic tune. Hate to do a mail order tune, but may have found someone to tune closer. Will save my pennies for HPT Pro and continue to research and learn. Thanks for the info again, it is greatly appreciated.
