If you're talking hand held tuners only there's only a couple out there for the '98. What are you wanting to do? Best thing would be full tuning software like HPT, EFI Live, etc.

what's your computer and auto knowledge like? A full editor is by far the best way to go but there's a steep learning curve there. Quite a bit of reading involved and some trial and error but you pretty much have full control over the PCM. On the handheld side I would look at either the Predator or the Vinci.

the better of the handhelds is the vinci tuner

i ued to use it on both of my cars. here' a webpage i made about it.

ok narrowed it down to the ls1 edit and the hypertech max power...
i need to fix my speedo because of the 3.73
i have headers and full exhaust no cats
slp mass air
k&n open air intake
stock throttle body
stock intake manifold
jet power shift firmness adjuster
zex wet shot 75/100/125
car is running 12.6 @109 on 75 shot now
I do plan on 90/90 fast combo soon wich one of these tuners is gonna help me with what i got and what kinda power should i expect....
Thanks

Consider a full tuning suite such as hptuners which you'll find has more licenses, more tables, etc then just about anything you can find on the market.
I went the dynotune route at one point as well & ended up getting hptuners eventually & never looked back.
Theres a bit of a learning curve but you find gobs more help on their forum then whats out there for edit.Support for HPTuners

I would steer clear of both of those.
The hypertech isn't going to be able to do the things you need it to do and LS1edit is way outdated. I have an LS1 cable I'll sell you real cheap. Just to give you an idea. Their site still lists version 1.5 as the latest version. I got that update over 2 years ago. Their scanner is still listed as a beta which I downloaded 2 years ago. You have some more reading to do before making this decision.

I would look at these 4 and see which one you feel suites you best. The full editors are the way to go but they also require some learn time.
Full editors
HpTuners and EFILIVE
handhelds
Predator and Vinci
I would read on those 4 tuners and see which one best fits what you're looking for. To me it really sounds like you're heading towards heads and cam. In that case I personally wouldn't even look at the hand helds. I would only consider those 2 editors I listed above.

ok .. Also i need something that i can retard my timing with...... the zex kit requires 2 degree timing retard between the three shots 0/2/4 degree retard,.....
does the full tuners have this capability.. im decently knowledgeable on the aspect of tuning but it would take me learning how to....

Thats the old tunercat software. It was sold to JET. I have and use the original tunercat. Its good stuff, but more difficult than HPT or EFIlive. Plus, it doesnt come with a scanner. Thats a big drawback. For the couple extra bucks it costs, go with one of the others, hpt or efilive.
Also, one more advantage to the others over jet. The others only write the calibration (unless you are applying a custom OS, but thats another story) which is less of a hazard, and takes much less time. JET, or TC, writes the entire PCM every time which is more dangerous (no recovery in event of failure in the middle of the write), plus it takes over 2 minutes at least, where HPT and efilive take mere seconds.
