transmission and computer not communicating correctly
Can anyone help me? i am a new trans am owner, I just recently purchased a 1998 trans am with a bad transmission, I brought it to my dads transmission shop the first thing he said to me was he has had a lot of problems with these cars. He said that its strange because the camaro has the same set up but does not give as much transmission problems he thinks its something to do with the computer but he has not figured it out yet. well he went on and rebuilt it and installed it in the car but says when he puts his scanner on it, the computer is not reading the info from the transmission correctly, something about the selenoid signals being incorrect for every gear. Can anyone help us? is the computer going bad? because he said the selenoid is good.

It's possible the PCM isn't working properly. Try contacting Frost - site sponser, click his banner above - as he is one of the leading tuners, and might be able to help point you in the right direction. He also does mail order tunes, and has new PCM's available as well. I've yet to hear any bad reviews of his services.
The only things I could suggest is check all the wiring and connections to make sure they are good. Another member with more experience in the auto tranny area might be able to give a little more insight. We'll get you squared away though. It's not how fast you can go. It's how fast you can get there.

Yea maybe I said it backwards he was trying to explain it to I think
for each gear the computer should set seleniods a,b and c either in an
on or off positions and it is setting each one in the wrong pos. I
also have trouble starting up I have to turn the ignition on an off 3
times to get it to start right like the fuel pump is bad and the gas
needle is not reading neither. Don't have a lot of money, wondering if
getting a tuner to go thru the programming would fix it or should I
just go for another computer and the you sell them and how much?
