    T/A LS1 vs. 01 LS1 ZO6

What is different between the drivetrain or computer tuning of a 305 HP 99 Trans Am and the 385 HP 01 ZO6? They both use the LS1 engine but i've heard that the intake manifolds are different? What do you guys know?

Ok, that makes sense. So what makes the difference between the LS1 F body's and the LS1 Corvettes?

huh? that statement makes no sense to me...fallacy means mistake or false assumption...so "your mistake is that the Z06 Corvette has the LS6 engine,,,not the ls1 engine." nobody ever actually alluded to that point. So nobody made that mistake. I happened to point out that the ZO6 has ls6 heads, cam, intake...i forgot to mention the block as well if that was your point *shrug*

foff667: read the original post, carefully.

The whole point is that he is comparing an LS1 engine in a TA with an ls6 engine, but he writes that both cars have an LS1 engine, so why is the Z06 Corvette so much faster.

As you pointed out, the two engines are not the same at all, big difference, as Chevy wanted it to be.

And yes, I cant spell falicy.

I thought the ls2 intake was on the 01 and 02 f body's. but maybe i'm wrong. the 01 and 02 f body's only have 5 more HP than the previous 4th gens. Wouldnt an LS6 intake add more horse than that? Like 15 hp? I jus thought i heard it was the ls2.

ls2 intake manifold uses a 90mm throttle body if i herd correctly. Factory ls1 and ls6 throttle body is 78mm.

You are quoting factory HP numbers. The LS6 intake is generally worth more than 5 HP. That in conjunction with better camshaft and better flowing exhaust manifolds is why LS1's are under-rated, at least in the f-body.
