stock tune sucks
i just got back from a test drive with my scanner did a snap shot of a holeshot to 90 mph and 5500 to 6k the timing was only 18-21 so is the curve that bad or is it that lean i'd like to see how she'd run with at least 34-36 oh yeah my cars a m6 w/ cai and cb basicly stock

Was the PCM pulling timing due to knock?

I would have to look at see what the stock table looks like for an 01 because I don't know off the top of my head but probably maxes at 24ish. Keep in mind these motors don't need a whole lot of timing. 28-30 degrees is usually plenty even for a cammed car.

Arctic White & Black- '98 WS6 M6 - SWAPTIME!
a lot of the time once you start to add timing and you keep on adding it, you will start to lose HP rather than gain it. and get a pretty impressive knocking/cackling noise then probably set off the knock sensors/MIL like crazy.

Pushrod engines/LS engines are notorious for that noise. Chances are it may be a pushrod which may be bent on account of too advanced timing. If it is that, it's a pretty easy fix, but I would ask your tuner about where he has the tune adding/removing timing first before doing anything. Do you have a check engine light on?
Anyone with more tuning experience feel free to correct me as I am a tuning n00b!

FYI here's your high octane timing table. you were most likely in the .80 - .84 cylinder airmass row
Cold Air Intake, Muffler Delete, Vinci High Performance Dual Valve Springs, Hardened Pushrods, Yella Terra 1.85 Rockers, Some Hydropdipped Stuff, Strut Tower Brace, Some SS Badges, boost/vacuum gauge, fuel pressure gauge, some checkered stripes, drilled/slotted rotors, ZL1addons Stealth wickerbill, Ruxifey LED side markers

thats some cool info now what is the .80-.84 airmass exactly is it kinda the efficency of the engine
-

that's how many grams of air that's going in per cylinder
-

so the bigger the number more air basicly leanin it out backin the timing down
