Security light
I've searched for a simple answer to why my Security light on, but I don't think I've found one. Sorry if this is repetitive and the simple answer is out there somewhere, but my light came on Friday and other than it being on, there have been no issues. Did I just hit a wrong button or something? I see threads about VATS and BCM, etc, and it's way too confusing for little ol' me!
Can someone give me a basic idea of what might be wrong and what I can tell my mechanic if I have to take it to him?
THANK YOU!!

Yes, have had no issues with starting. I've driven it every day, no problems. Nothing different except light is on.

here's the fix:

it will eventually cause a no start condition at some point most likely. The fix will cost $3-5 and take you 30 minutes to do.

It hasn't for me. I have 3 sets of keys for the car. I have tried all three. Every once in awhile the light goes off but its rare.
Reading about the VATS bypass I am going to do it. For the 30 minutes of my time its a good peace of mind.
Now where the hell did I put my multimeter.......

If you do the bypass you won't have to get the new ignition switch, from what I understand.
