SCT X3 Tuner is a POS

Bought an SCT X3 Programmer and is really pissing me off, I had problems during WOT. I started the program off doing one thing at a time. I tuned to 93 octane from the default of 91 first with no problems. It wasn't until I advanced the timing by two degrees through both RPM bands (2k-4k and 4k+) that I started to have problems.

In 3rd gear at WOT around say maybe 4k RPM's, the car started hesitating and bucking like crazy to where it was not drivable in WOT. I took the timing out and it stopped. I found that no matter what I try to tune in the car that it still does that bucking.

I thought maybe it was my spark plugs, but I changed the plugs and plug wires and STILL have the problem. Is there something wrong with my tuner?? WTF is going on here?

Just a guess but mine did the same thing you are describing by advancing the timing with HP Tuner with traction control on. Try a pass with the TC button off and see what happens.

Have you checked the spark knock signal to make sure you're not getting actual knock?

To be honest I'm not really sure how to do that.

You will need a scan tool. Either a GM Tech II, Snap on Scan tool (Modis), or software like LS1 Edit or HP Tuners. Autotap Diagnostic will also work, but you'll need the optional GM Parameters addon.
