    odd dyno numbers

I got my pcm back and went up to the dyno to see my numbers. I haven't dynoed it since the headers and tune. He puts my car on the dyno and runs it. I keep getting crazy numbers like 400+ hp. He said it kept down shifting. He gave a print out. Will post when I get home. Is it the tune screwing with me or what?

Why didn't your dyno guy force a 3rd gear pull?? Any good dyno operator can hook up tuning software and force the trans to stay in 3rd gear for a dyno pull.

so you think 400+ HP is low on a LT car??? and why would you think "tune" when the guy was having trouble maintaining a gear on the dyno? Moved to tuning.

my number where everywhere from 100 to 400hp. i dont much about tuning and was asking what would be the cause.

the fact it was downshifting is most likely the culprit. Post up your graph and lets see what it looks like. You might have a mechanical issue going on but it really sounds like that downshift is the issue.

You will need a slow steady sweep in a 1:1 gear for any accurate chassis dyno numbers.
Since your car is downshifting your numbers are inaccurate. The trans needs to be forced to stay in a 1:1 gear.

Shucks Orion, you obviously have faster fingers than me,,,lol.

new dyno....the fact that he had issue with it is odd...forcing a 3rd gear run and locking the converter is not very hard to do with tuning software....take it elsewhere

The sheet posted is from an automatic with a locked converter that is held in third. If it downshifts to second then 1. it's not locked anymore which hurts the numbers on the roller (not IRL) and 2. of COURSE pulling it in second gear will make it read really low.

I don't know what the thread title was, but if you don't know these basics then it's certainly not fair to poke at the tune. Why wouldn't you have asked the tuner why he was unable to lock the converter and hold third for the pull? There are multiple way to do it.

The DJ inductive RPM pickup is known to be very noisy with LS cars and it dislikes some aftermarket wires so much that I have to keep a stock plug wire on hand for some cars that come to dyno.

Also, if that graph that is posted was from BEFORE tuning, there is something amiss because the car is lean but it should be really rich on the OEM tune... it looks like it's been tuned though by that AFR.

Ah, I see the dyno sheet now. Don't know if that was posted earlier or if I just couldn't bring it up, my connection was having problems this afternoon.

For a car with just exhaust done, looks like typical numbers to me. Like Frost said, that AFR is floating right above 13.0, so it looks to be tuned to me.

so the numbers where buging me. like everyone says numbers dont really mean nothing.

so i called up one of my friends with a mustang at 299hp and around 315tq. so if the dyno is right on one of the pulls, i would be 8 hp more than him.

Warning this video has me doing some gay wave lol!

I agree with the others, go to a different dyno.

And that was a gay wave to the Mustang lol.
