    98' trans am

    new to tuning and want to get some of the basics

    hey guys..i will be getting hp tuner pro here soon for my car..a 98 trans am..and i have a question. If i want to do live tuning etc while my car is running...do i need to get a 99+ pcm ? also if i do...what do i need to do to get it to mesh with my car thanks guys.

    yes, you will need to step up to a 99+ PCM. the 98 PCM just doesn't have enough capacity to handle live tuning. there is some pinout changes or an entire wiring harness change. i'm not sure which.
    Cold Air Intake, Muffler Delete, Vinci High Performance Dual Valve Springs, Hardened Pushrods, Yella Terra 1.85 Rockers, Some Hydropdipped Stuff, Strut Tower Brace, Some SS Badges, boost/vacuum gauge, fuel pressure gauge, some checkered stripes, drilled/slotted rotors, ZL1addons Stealth wickerbill, Ruxifey LED side markers

    pretty good. i really like the victor jr setup. once i convert to the 4L80E trans, i'll get some new timeslips.

    wow seems like i need to repin to a 99+ and even after that. my fuel gauge wont work that kind of sucks

    The gauge can be made to work with a segment swapped from an express van...

    see now i herd that..but i thought i needed to be running efi-live to do that..and hp tuner didnt have that offered

    frost thank you..you just made my day...now i need to get the pin layouts of the two and go searching for pcms
