    Need help with Intake Removal

    Hey guys:
I have an SES code on my Knock Sensor. Shop wants $400 to replace sensors. I decided to replace myself.

My question is, are there any articles/howto's on removal of intake manifolds ??

    Thanks for your help.

    There's a LS6 intake swap article you can use - www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=5

    Thanks man.
    I looked the site up.
    Doesn't look too complicated.

Not too hard, used it a few years ago when doing a friends LS6 swap for the first time. I'd recommend new intake gaskets, be careful with the oil pressure sensor at the rear of the intake, and be extra careful not to pinch the knock sensor wires - last thing you want is a SES light after you're done. Good luck and take your time.

    Thanks

Thanks again, especially for the tips.
I did all my motor work back in the 70's when I was a teen. Had to, I was usually broke.
Allot more wires on motors today. I'll probably tackle it in the next couple of weeks.

The mechanic said I had an open circuit on the back Knock sensor.
It's not retarding my timing or anything. He said it would probably be ok to drive it for a long time. I'm just worried that the SES light might mask another problem, so I've gotta fix it.

I'll try and post some pic's of the car.

    Thanks
    Robert

Be careful with the oil pressure sensor on the back of the block like 2001NBMZ28 said. Oh yeah, and be careful with the oil pressure sensor on the back of the block. Did I mention to be careful with the oil pressure sensor???
Think I may have broken mine or something during my LS6 swap and have to pull the intake a 2nd time??? Even after reading a dozen warnings about it??

Yeah, just off to the drivers side a little. I got mine with the brake booster hose which I think is the prefered method of breaking it.

It's very straightforward really. You shouldn't have any troubles at all really. Just use the write up at LS1Howto.com on the ls-6 swap and it'll go smooth. Just don't break the damn oil sender.
