    Laptop tuner

How much do these bad boys cost and exactly what all do they do? Do they clear codes and monitor everything and you are able to control everything? Also do they come with how to instructions for first timers or are they for advanced techs? Im a carb guy originally.....but fuel injection is where its at

www.hptuners.com is one of the best software for the laptop.

Its pretty much for the advance user, or for someone willing to spend the time and learn it.

If you just want to monitor and clear codes, I'd suggest Auto Tap. It comes with clear instructions and is a lot cheaper. www.autotap.com

If you actually want to want to tune your car, go with HP Tuners (like Ed said), LS1 Edit or EFI Live.

I dont find them easy to use at all. Sucks too cuz if someone maed one for dummies, Id be all over it versus someone else doing the tunes.

The only way to tune the cars is on a dyno? Or is there another way to do it. These programs efi live and hptuner can they permanently delete downstream o2 sensor, change gear ratios, change shift firmness? I looked on the websites and didnt see it. I am seriously considering getting one of them if it is possible to learn how to tune it and if i dont have to go to the speed shop for a dyno.

Is that like one of the cards you can get to run internet anywhere? If so I have wireless on my laptop and have the wireless router so I could tune from home then?

A wideband lets you check Air Fuel Ratio.

Where do you get the wideband and how much does that cost? All together what would I be spending on a personal tune for my car to be able to tune it at home? You are very helpful ed thanks again.

If you don't know much about tuning and don't want to take the time to learn, I suggest you leave it to a professional. It can get pretty complex.

I have plenty of time to learn, I just wanted to make sure it was possible. I am thinking about getting hptuner but i do not see the wideband on the site.

$649 for the hp tuner and $349 for the basic wideband AFR meter from innovate motorsports. There would be no need to upgrade to the rpm kit or the auxbox kit because hp tuner monitors all of the rest correct?

If you just want to use the wideband for tuning. You can get the LC-1 which will connect to HPTuners. And is cheaper.

I also just use the LC-1

I would take a week or 6 and read read read first. Read every post at hptuners you can get your hands on and make small adjustments. Start with the simple things first and make sure you understand what you're adjusting and why you're adjusting it before making changes. It would be a good idea to ask tons of questions too. It just takes a little time to learn but in the end it's worth it. If you have any questions feel free to post them up and someone here will be able to help you.
