Inconsistent readouts with different scanners?
I recently had the SES light come on (2002 WS6), and used my cheapo scan tool on it - it read out code 1416, which the book identified as EGR Temp Sensor Circuit.
The dealer checked the car and said the code really indicates the Secondary Air Injection Valve (this is also what the thread titled "P1416" on this forum indicates).
What's the deal here? Is it a known problem that cheaper scan tools have bad descriptions of trouble codes? Is there a definitive list of codes out there that applies to every vehicle?
Thanks.

The booklet description is obviously incorrect, your car doesn't even have EGR. LOL You can look up the codes at obdii.com for a quick reference or gearchatter.com to get a complete description and diagnostics.
